Who was Lee Hoffman?
Lee Hoffman was one of those marvelous people who defied being categorized.
Her fascinating life spanned a wide spectrum of human endeavors.
Amateur archaeologist, artist, author, horsewoman, race car inspector, where
does one begin? You might have found her sipping wine in New York or sampling
the waters of the Okeefenokee Swamp. If you found her relaxing in front
of a radio, she might have been listening to folk music or to police dispatches.
The clack-clacking in the next room might have been Lee writing a novel,
or disassembling the typewriter to see how it works.
Read on to find out more about this renaissance woman.
LEE: "Who says money won't buy happiness?"
NEPHEW: "I'd certainly like the opportunity to test the theory."
LEE: "Money will buy pecan pies. Isn't that proof enough?"
LEE: "Trufen are cadets to become Secret Masters of the Universe. The
problem is, they can't move into the Inner Circle til they grow up, and
no one has ever known a Trufan to grow up."
LEE on Astrology: "Venus and Mars are forever hanging close to Earth, and
I can't think of a time when people here haven't been making love and war.
Is there a planet of Wisdom? If so, it must be out there beyond Pluto."
